3. How do I get a Student
Visa?
Applying for a student visa can take many months subject
to Australian Government requirements necessary for
the process. You should contact the Australian High
Commission or Diplomatic Post in your home country
to determine your Country Assessment Level, the Education
Subclass and Evidentiary Requirements needed for your
application.
4. Can

International students are only permitted to work
a maximum of 20 hours per week during each term of

Work Rights visas are only issued once a student has
commenced their studies and can be obtained from the
Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous
Affairs (DIMIA) in Australia.
5. Do I pay
Tax?
If you work in Australia under your Work Rights Visa,
you should apply for a Tax File Number. Without a

Tax File Number applications are available at all
Post Offices or the Australian Taxation Office. You
can apply for a TFN after you have enrolled into your
study program.
6. Can I get
credit for subjects I have done overseas?
In Australia this is called RPL (Recognition of Prior
Learning). You can receive exemption for studies you
have done overseas as long as you can demonstrate
that you have the same level of skill required in
the Australian course. You will need to make an application
for RPL by the end of the first week of the course.
Applications are made through the Head of the Department
where you are studying. You should bring original
copies of all your academic transcript as well as
a brief outline of the subjects you studied. RPL will
no be granted in circumstances which would reduce
your course to less than a full-time load.

my course in less time?
You can "fast track" your course if your
timetable allows. AUSBATAR is open seven days a week.
