ABOUT IELTS :
What is IELTS?
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is widely recognised as a language requirement for further and higher education. It is the chosen language test of many universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
IELTS assesses whether you are ready to study or train in English. It tests your ability to read, write, speak and listen in academic or general training contexts.
IELTS is developed and managed by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), the British Council and IDP Education Australia.
The IELTS Test gives an accurate indication of a student's ability in the four fundamental English skills:
• Listening Test time: 30 minutes (approx.)
• Reading Test time - Academic/General: 60 minutes (approx.)
• Writing Test time - Academic/General: 60 minutes (approx.)
• Speaking Test time: 15 minutes (approx.)
Tests are held at least twice a month and results are mailed to students within two to three weeks.
There are two different modules for the Reading and Writing sections of the test - the Academic and General Training.
Preparing for IELTS :
It is not necessary to attend an IELTS preparation course though it is, of course, a good idea to prepare thoroughly for the test.
The IELTS Specimen Materials have been produced according to Cambridge ESOL's Question Paper Production cycle and are the only preparation resources that are endorsed by all three IELTS partners.
Who should take this course?
